Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The objective of the game is to score runs by hitting a pitched ball with a bat and then running around a series of bases arranged in a diamond shape. The game is played on a field that has a diamond-shaped infield and a grass outfield. A standard baseball game consists of nine innings, during which teams alternate roles as batters and fielders.

The game involves several key components: the pitcher’s mound, home plate, and the bases (first base, second base, third base, and home plate). The defensive team, also known as the fielding team, tries to prevent runs by getting batters or base runners out through various means, including catching batted balls in the air or throwing the ball to bases ahead of runners.

Baseball is often referred to as “America’s pastime” and has a rich history and cultural significance, particularly in the United States. It is governed by a set of rules known as the official baseball rules, and it is played at various levels, from amateur youth leagues to professional leagues, including Major League Baseball (MLB). The sport emphasizes strategy, athleticism, and teamwork.
